Polyurethane Cement Systems

Heavy-duty polyurethane cement flooring systems designed for extreme temperatures, moisture and chemical exposure.

Polyurethane Cement Flooring Systems

Polyurethane cement flooring systems are designed for high-demand industrial environments where floors are exposed to thermal shock, moisture, aggressive cleaning, and chemical attack. These systems are commonly used in facilities where durability, hygiene, and long-term performance are critical.

Polyurethane cement is particularly well suited for food and beverage processing, washdown environments, and areas subject to extreme temperature changes. When properly installed, it provides a dense, seamless surface capable of withstanding conditions that exceed the limits of many resin systems.

Polyurethane Cement Flooring Systems We Install

Abate & Associates specializes in the installation of polyurethane cement flooring systems in a wide range of industrial environments, including:

  • Food and beverage facilities

  • Wet and dry process areas

  • Freezers and coolers

  • Thermal shock and high-temperature washdown areas

  • Dairies, breweries, wineries, and distilleries

  • Laboratories and chemical process facilities

  • Pulp and paper plants

  • Warehouses and storage areas

Each system is selected based on the operating conditions of the space and the demands placed on the floor.

Performance Characteristics of Polyurethane Cement

Polyurethane cement flooring systems offer several performance advantages in demanding environments:

  • Can be installed over 7 to 10 day old concrete, following proper mechanical surface preparation

  • Tolerates certain levels of moisture vapor transmission from the substrate

  • Provides excellent resistance to a wide range of organic and inorganic acids, alkalis, amines, salts, and solvents

  • Maintains physical performance across a broad temperature range, from -40°C (-40°F) to 120°C (248°F)

  • Suitable for steam cleaning when installed at typical system thicknesses of 1/4″ to 3/8″

These characteristics make polyurethane cement a preferred system for facilities requiring durability under extreme conditions.

Surface Preparation and Installation

Proper surface preparation is critical to the performance of polyurethane cement flooring. Concrete is mechanically prepared by shot blasting to achieve the required surface profile and ensure proper adhesion.

Polyurethane cement systems are installed at a cementitious thickness, allowing them to withstand impact, thermal cycling, and aggressive cleaning without compromising performance.

Designed for the Environment

Abate & Associates evaluates each installation environment before recommending a polyurethane cement system. This includes reviewing factors such as:

  • Chemicals present or spilled

  • Water and cleaning temperatures

  • Operating and ambient floor temperatures

  • Traffic type and abrasion requirements

Based on this information, we recommend a system designed to perform reliably in the specific conditions of the area.
