Agricultural

Durable, easy-to-maintain flooring systems for agricultural facilities, barns, and farm operations.

Agricultural Flooring Systems

Agricultural facilities are hard on floors. Between manure and urine, silage acids, wet and dry cycling, disinfectants, temperature swings, and constant equipment traffic, bare concrete breaks down fast and becomes harder to keep clean.

Abate & Associates installs industrial flooring systems for agricultural and livestock environments across Ontario. We work in dairy, poultry, beef, pork, and mixed agricultural operations, from small family farms to large-scale facilities.

Where We Commonly Work

We install flooring in the areas that take the most abuse and create the most maintenance problems, including robot rooms, parlours, milk houses, tank rooms, CIP rooms, wash bays, boot wash areas, change rooms, and staff washrooms.

On the livestock and barn side, we also work in feed alleys, feed mangers, scrape alleys, calf rooms, utility rooms, equipment rooms, and containment or chemical storage areas.

What We’re Solving in Agricultural Facilities

Most issues aren’t “just concrete.” They’re predictable problems caused by the environment and how the room is used.

Common problems we address include:

  • pitted and contaminated concrete from manure, urine, silage, fats, and cleaners

  • slippery floors in wet areas and high-traffic walk zones

  • failing coatings due to moisture vapor and poor surface preparation

  • cracked joints and damaged surfaces from equipment, skid steers, and scraping

  • drainage issues that leave standing water and make cleaning a constant fight

Systems We Install for Agricultural Environments

We match the system to the room and the abuse it sees. One farm can have several zones that require different solutions.

MMA Smooth Coating

MMA smooth coating is a hard-wearing, fast-curing option that is ideal for high-abuse areas like feed mangers and feed zones where disruption has to be minimal. Cure time allows a practical feed, apply, feed approach and helps keep routines moving.

MMA can also be installed in colder conditions, which allows us to work year-round when the schedule demands it.

Decorative Flooring

Quartz broadcast, decorative vinyl flake, and metallic systems are commonly used in milk houses, offices, bathrooms, robot rooms, and other areas where you want a cleanable, professional finish that still holds up to real use. Decorative systems are customizable for colour, texture, and gloss level.

Polyurethane Cement Flooring

Polyurethane cement systems are commonly used in wet, harsh, and temperature-changing environments. These systems are a strong choice for washdown areas, CIP rooms, wet process spaces, and rooms exposed to aggressive cleaners or constant moisture.

We collect the key details for the space, including traffic, temperature exposure, cleaning routine, and chemical exposure, then recommend the appropriate system for each area.

Epoxy Flooring Systems

Epoxy flooring systems are a durable, cleanable solution for many agricultural areas, especially where you need improved chemical resistance and easier maintenance than bare concrete. Slip-resistant textures and colour matching can also be added where needed.

Concrete Polishing

Polished concrete is a cost-effective option for dry areas where you want a durable, low-maintenance finish. We have also polished select barn areas where a cleaner, harder-wearing surface was needed and the conditions made sense for it.

Drainage, Slope-to-Drain, and Floor Corrections

If water sits where it shouldn’t, you end up with bacteria growth, extra labour, and a floor that never feels clean.

Abate & Associates corrects drainage issues and builds slope-to-drain using cementitious or epoxy mortars. We work around your equipment and drain locations so the room functions the way it’s supposed to.

Containment, Wet Rooms, and Hard-Use Areas

Many agricultural facilities have chemical rooms, sanitation stations, wet rooms, and containment zones that need extra protection.

We install systems designed for these sensitive areas, with practical detailing that supports easier cleaning and long-term durability.

How Abate Works in Active Facilities

We understand that farms can’t stop running for a flooring project. We plan installs around routines, uptime, and shutdown windows when available. That includes proper mechanical surface preparation, repairs before coating, and clean job execution.
