Epoxy Flooring Systems

Seamless, high-performance epoxy flooring built for demanding industrial facilities.

Epoxy Flooring Systems

Epoxy flooring systems are applied over concrete substrates to protect the surface, improve durability, and provide chemical, abrasion, and moisture resistance in industrial environments. Epoxy systems are commonly used where concrete floors are exposed to traffic, chemicals, washdowns, and operational wear.

Concrete is structurally strong, but the near-surface wear layer is often the weakest part of the slab. In active facilities, this zone absorbs the majority of abuse from forklifts, foot traffic, oils, chemicals, and cleaning processes. Because concrete is porous, contaminants and moisture can migrate into the slab, leading to adhesion failures, contamination, and premature deterioration.

A properly designed epoxy flooring system acts as a protective barrier, sealing the concrete and preventing moisture and contaminants from entering the substrate. Long-term performance depends on selecting the correct system for the conditions and installing it over properly prepared concrete.

Epoxy Flooring Systems We Install

Abate & Associates installs a full range of industrial epoxy flooring systems, including specialty applications designed to address specific performance requirements:

  • High-build epoxy coating systems for general industrial and commercial environments

  • Broadcast epoxy flooring systems where increased durability and slip resistance are required

  • Moisture vapor mitigation epoxy systems designed to manage elevated moisture vapor emission rates (MVER) in concrete slabs

  • Epoxy moisture vapor barriers used to isolate flooring systems from moisture-related failures

  • Epoxy membrane systems designed to bridge cracks and accommodate minor substrate movement

  • Waterproofing and traffic-bearing epoxy membranes for areas requiring moisture protection

  • Chemical-resistant epoxy linings for secondary containment, tank rooms, and process areas

  • ESD dissipative epoxy flooring systems for static-sensitive environments

  • ESD conductive epoxy flooring systems where controlled grounding and electrical continuity are required

Each system is selected based on moisture conditions, chemical exposure, traffic type, electrical requirements, and service environment.

Benefits of Epoxy Flooring Systems

When properly specified and installed, epoxy flooring systems provide:

  • Improved abrasion, impact, and chemical resistance compared to bare concrete

  • Slip-resistant surface textures for wet or safety-critical areas

  • Seamless, non-porous finishes that support hygiene and easy maintenance

  • Custom colour options for safety zoning or facility standards

  • Fast-curing epoxy systems available for projects with limited downtime

Surface Preparation and Substrate Condition

The performance of any epoxy flooring system depends heavily on surface preparation and substrate condition. Concrete must be mechanically prepared to achieve the proper concrete surface profile (CSP) and to remove contamination prior to installation.

Cracks, joints, spalls, and damaged areas are addressed before coatings are applied to ensure proper adhesion, system continuity, and long-term performance.

Designed for the Environment

No single epoxy system is suitable for every application. Our team evaluates moisture levels, substrate condition, traffic loads, chemical exposure, and operational requirements before recommending a system. This approach ensures each flooring system is appropriate for the environment and designed to perform over the long term.
